Simple tips: how to reduce pesticides..

  • Do not select fruits and vegetables that have holes.
  • Trim fat from meat and remove skin (residues concentrates in animal fat)
  • Wash fresh produce in warm water and use a scrub brush
  • Use a knife to peel an orange. Do not bite/push into the peel as you’ll push dirt in
  • Discard outer leaves of leafy vegetables
  • Peel waxed fruits and vegetables. Waxes trap pesticide residues
  • Peel vegetables when possible

  1. Definitely some good tips! I try to buy pesticide free (and even use veggies from my own garden!) when I can, but this is great info to have for the times when I can’t do that!

  2. Interesting fact about animal fat there! I know humans store fat soluble toxins, but i forget that applies to meat animals too!
Aother tip, is that if you cant really afford to buy organic ‘everything’, then at least buy organic variants of the vegetables that are regularly documented to have the highest levels of sprays… lettuce, blueberries, and strawberries are right up there šŸ™‚
